Tory Island: sinkings

Callaghan, Principal Keeper Tory Island, re reporting sighting of enemy submarine off Island (6 February 1915); and reports from William Snow, Assistant Keeper, of three shipwrecked crews landing at Island: SS 'Sebek' of Liverpool torpedoed on 21 April 1917, all 40 crew safely landed ; Norwegian Barque 'Acadia' boarded by German submarine crew on 23 April 1917 and sunk, crew of 19 safely landed ; SS 'Dromore' of Liverpool, 43 crew and Captain safely landed on 28 April 1917.

Tuskar Lighthouse: crew of SS 'Cairns' landed on Rock


File contains letter from J. Glanville, Principal Keeper Tuskar Rock Lighthouse, reporting Captain and Crew of SS 'Cairns' of Glasgow landed on Rock at 5.30 am on 14 August 1915, their vessel having been sunk by shell fire from German Submarine.
